Winter Reset Aesthetic

We are halfway into 2026 and the winter weather is taking its toll on the country right now. January is the beginning of a new year, and as many people are starting new routines, goals, or resolutions. It is a good time to reset and start the new year with a clean slate. That could also be resetting your space to create a mood of renewal and refresh as you start the new year.

I have been looking more into aesthetics because they can help create a mood, but being more mindful and intentional about whatever aesthetic or mood you want to create. So I found some ideas for creating a winter reset aesthetic. Some ways to do a reset during this winter season and start fresh.

  1. Create a new morning routine

Keep a journal by your bed and write down five things you want to accomplish today. For me, writing things down is manifesting to me. Start your day with a little positivity and manifestation.
  2. Create a cozy space in your home

Create a cozy nook somewhere in your home. Having a dedicated space to sit and reflect, journal, or be creative can help clear your mind.
  3. Declutter and organize your space

Having an organized space can help increase your comfort and also helps declutter your mind as well. Take time to clear up those bills and papers that have accumulated over the past few months, and create a clear space for yourself. It also could help spark some new ideas and creativity.
  4. Create an evening routine

Start a new evening routine that helps reset your mental state, release the stress of the day, and will ease you into a more comfortable state. Maybe put your phone down and spend five minutes winding down from the day. Try a cup of tea or write down 3 things you are grateful for from the day.
  5. Be intentional and deliberate about what you need for your peace: self care

Write down your thoughts. Create a routine for the season that protects your mindset and well-being. Write a list of intentional tasks and daily tasks that help honor those feelings.

I created a board of some winter aesthetics, but try some of these ideas and let me know how they work for you and make you feel.

Also, here’s something I found interesting. I have been living intentionally lately. This year, my words for the year are deliberate and expand. This concept of seasonal living by Escape the Busy intrigued me. Let me know your thoughts.

Holiday decor | minimal + maximal

The holidays are upon us and the decorations should be hung by now. There are many decorating styles, but I like extremes. Being a lover of all things Christmas, I wanted to see some inspiration from a minimal and maximum design style. I created a #Pinterest board with some ideas for both. Do you have a decorating style or theme for the holidays? Let me know what your design style is and if you have a theme for the holidays.

    Happy Holidays!!

Back in the Saddle (well, Cushion)

This is a different approach here. I will continue making playlists, but I wanted to use this for what it was meant to be. I have been taking care of others and stopped doing what I truly love and is a passion I have had for years. Now is the time to do the work, so here’s a new approach to my creative side and talents.

A friend was selling stuff from his home goods shop he had some years ago here in Detroit. I loved all his stuff from his shop, but one day this summer he put out some left over fabric for sale. I couldn’t resist taking a look. I found these three rolls of fabric and bought them immediately! I am going to get back to using my creative gifts and making pillow covers again. I may throw in a throw (see what I did there??) or two as well. I’m excited to get back to releasing my creativity again. So be on the look out for some pillows and other home decor items in the near future.

Here is a look at what I’ve done in the past. I enjoy creating, so I am taking the step to get back to doing something I really enjoy doing and not doubt my capabilities. Stay tuned!

    Slow Fall!

The fall season has begun, but the weather is still in summer mode in my area. Fall being my favorite season, I am trying to be patient for the changes in the weather since the cold weather season lasts longer here in Michigan. So I’m not trying to rush cold weather, but I am excited for sweater weather and cozy meals. This week’s list comes from a place of expectation and calm. Protecting my peace has been my main focus lately, and music helps keep my mood calm and in a great head space.

Since the summer weather is still holding on, but fall on the horizon, this week’s list kind of fits both seasonal moods well.

    Joyful!

Life has been chaotic the past five years, for everyone that is. One thing I have learned over these years is that life is also too short to settle. I gained so many wins and blessings, that life started to seem better. I felt lighter and happy in general. I let go of a lot of things I had no control over, so I took control of what I could…me. I started to attract things and people with similar mindsets and energy. I am in such a better place and now I want to celebrate joy any chance I get.

I was in a workshop and the topic of gratitude was the focus. It was mentioned to do something that brings yourself joy, no matter what that looks like, but music came up. So I said that I would make a joy playlist because music always makes me happy. So here it is!!

    Cleaning Groove | 10.9.24

When I was growing up, cleaning was a family affair. Most Friday evenings, my mom and I would come home and start cleaning after dinner. Music was always generally playing while we cleaned. Everything from alternative to reggae. As an adult, I listen to music pretty much all day. Even when I am not listening to music, I have various songs in my head at all times. When I’m cleaning, I definitely listen to music, either on a speaker or headphones. One day I was doing a full house clean and the random list I was listening to really had my in a serious groove. There were artists and songs I’d never heard before, and I was really enjoying the flow. I put together a list of songs that stood out, and I hope you enjoy them as well.
